Internet of Things – The future

What is the ‘Internet of Things’?

The ‘Internet of Things’ or IoT in short, refers to devices which are physical and are connected to the internet. The purpose of which is to exchange and connect data with one another. Devices range from mobile phones to even cars explains how important IoT is given the current digitilisation age!

Any physical object can also be a IoT device, by connecting it to the internet to exchange information with a server/device. IoT has made businesses operate with lower costs due to the hiring of less workers and making use of cloud servers to exchange and store data without the need of physical workers.

Examples of IoT

Tesla

Tesla’s cars utilise connectivity to provide features for users, ranging from music streaming services to navigation. Users can also opt for a option which allows them to control their Tesla through an mobile application which shows them the charging history of the car and many other features available as well.

Samsung

Samsung integrates its smart products to connect with one another, ranging from washing machines to refrigerators. It conveniently allows users to control the appliance through a mobile application without the need of physically operating the appliance!

Conclusion

IoT may be important given the current age, but there are always risks involved if we depend too much on IoT. The risks involved include being cyberattacked, power outages, problems with connections are all factors!

What do you think? Should we fully depend on IoT for the years ahead?

One response to “Internet of Things – The future”

  1. Hello Hector! Your blogpost was nicely written with a good structure that gave me further insights on what is the Internet of Things. In the start of your blogpost, you wrote a good introduction, telling readers the definition of IoT. Your choice of using Tesla as an example was a great one, as Tesla is very relevant in this age and is one of the famous car brands that uses IoT in their car business. Choosing samsung to use as your example was an excellent one, as Samsung has a broad range of electronics that uses IoT. However, there are some parts that I would like to talk about, as I feel that there is some room for improvement~ Firstly, you could include some more elaboration on how IoT poses its risks too. By including that, your blog will be more informative and readers can get to know about IoT and its wonders. You also probed a question on whether IoT should be depended fully, and this allows readers to think through however, they have to source another article to know more about its disadvantages. Therefore, it will be good if your blog can contain more disadvantages so that you can argue on your perspective. I suggest that you can also attach a video of IoT for readers to know what it is visually, and this can enhance your blogpost. Overall, a nice blog created! 🙂
